Earlier versions of the Buffalo Silver came in the form of 1oz 999 silver coins that are collected by quite a lot of people. But a decade back the American Buffalo Silver was released once more as a special commemorative issue. This was released back in June 2001 and the 2001 American Buffalo coin is now in 1 dollar denominations and is made of 90% pure silver.
